It didn't quite work as planned. With the rain hammering down and the wind gusting wildly just 6 students turned up with Sports Teacher Richard Higginson and his dog to run in the hope of raising some cash for the school bursary scheme.

Athletics events and competitions held in 2005.
Newquay Road Runners 10km race took place on Sunday 7 October 2007 and attracted a field of over 450 runners, a record for the event. Runners Dave Buzza and Jo Friday from Cornwall Athletics Club broke the course records for mens and womens times respectively.
